Tasks
What does a Data Engineer Trainee do?
As Data Engineer Trainee, you will work under the guidance of senior Data Engineers and gain hands-on experience in the technical skills and tools necessary for managing and analyzing large sets of data.
Specific tasks that you may be involved in as a Data Engineer Trainee could include:
• Collaborating with the Data Analyst/ Science team to define data requirements and develop data models
• Building and maintaining ETL pipelines to ensure data consistency and accuracy
• Writing and optimizing SQL queries to extract data from databases
• Developing data quality checks to ensure that data is accurate, complete, and consistent
• Working with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure and big data technologies like Databricks, Azure Synapse, Spark, and NoSQL databases to build and manage data infrastructure
• Learning how to implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance with regulations.

• Ongoing university studies in any Hungarian higher education institution (engineering or mathematical subjects)
• Availability to work in flexible working hours, at least 25 hours/week
• Proactive mindset
• Technical background, strong analytical skills and high level of precision
• Excellent English and Hungarian verbal and written communication skills
Highly Desired Skills:
As a Data Engineer Trainee, you should be curious, eager to learn, and have a strong desire to grow your technical skills in the field of data engineering.
Skills that you should have or aim to develop in order to succeed in your role:
• Programming skills: You should have a solid understanding of programming concepts and be proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala. Familiarity with SQL is also important.
• Data modeling skills: You should have a good understanding of data modeling techniques and be able to design data structures that can handle large volumes of data.
• Big data technologies: You should be familiar with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases. Familiarity with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure is also desired.
• ETL development: You should have experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into a data warehouse.
• Data quality and governance: You should be familiar with data quality techniques and understand how to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Knowledge of data governance policies and procedures is also desired.
• Collaboration and communication: You should be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders across different functions.
• Problem-solving: You should be able to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions to address them.
